“Occupation & Operation Costs – Innovative Strategies” – 29 April 2026

On 29 April I attended the Leisure Property Forum’s event, “Occupation & Operation Costs – Innovative Strategies”.
The morning’s talks and Q&A covered a range of significant and challenging areas for both landlords and occupiers to consider, particularly in the leisure and retail sectors.
There was a fantastic panel of experts and occupiers, providing great insights in the way they each approach some of the considerable and unavoidable costs associated with occupying commercial property. This included energy costs, business rates, service charges and insurance rents.
A key theme was the need to remove friction between landlords and tenants in the sharing of data, and of longer-term thinking, particularly in the context of energy savings and the cost-effectiveness of service charges.
