Our history

Following key leadership changes including the addition of John Marmaduke Teesdale, the firm is renamed Maples, Maples & Teesdale.

The firm becomes Young, Maples, Teesdale & Nelson. Additional offices open at 53 Parliament Street and 10 Eastbourne Terrace, Paddington.

The Paddington office was used for business of the Great Western Railway for whom the firm acted.

The firm becomes Maples, Teesdale & Co.

Marmaduke John Teesdale leaves to join the Treasury.

Hugh Teesdale (son of E. T. M. Teesdale) joins the firm.

Firm name changes from Maples, Teesdale and Co to Maples Teesdale and Co

Mackrell, Ward & Evans amalgamates with Maples Teesdale & Co.

The firm relocates to 15 Southampton Place, Holborn WC1A 2AW.

The firm is renamed Maples Teesdale and opens an additional office at 26-28 Bedford Row, Holborn WC1R 4HP.

The firm moves to 21 Lincoln’s Inn Fields, London WC2A 3DU.

Maples Teesdale advises the US Government on the US Embassy’s move south of the Thames from its iconic 20-34 Grosvenor Square location in Mayfair.

Maples Teesdale becomes a limited liability partnership (LLP) and moves to 30 King Street, London EC2V 8EE.

Maples Teesdale is listed in The Times Best Law Firms 2020, ranking in the Commercial Property and Landlord & Tenant categories.

The firm earns the prestigious Lex 100 award in four categories: quality of work, work/life balance, confidence in being kept on, and the approachability of supervisors.

The firm achieves B Corp Certification, demonstrating its commitment to high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability as part of the movement toward a more inclusive and regenerative economy.
