Over the last few years we have grown by about 20% per year in headcount through a combination of retaining a high number of our qualifying trainees, the lateral hire of quality lawyers and business service personnel from other City firms.

Deputy Finance Manager

We are seeking a motivated and ambitious individual to join the Accounts team in our growing firm.  This is a wide-ranging role which covers a range of areas of responsibility. The successful candidate will provide direct support to the Office & Finance Manager in keeping the transactional side of the accounts function running smoothly, while also supervising the Accounts Assistant, along with daily interaction with all members of the firm.

The role includes but is not limited to;

  • Responsibility for client creation and administration of AML issues
  • Responsibility for archiving and file retrieval processes
  • Regular administration of residual balances and interest on moneys held
  • Dealing with all aspects of billing process
  • Oversight of timesheet entries
  • Daily checking of bank accounts and dealing with money movements
  • Arrangement of supplier payments and associated processes
  • Credit card and petty cash management
  • General support and liaison with Accounts team and other members of firm

Specific duties or responsibilities may be reviewed from time to time.

We are ideally looking for someone who has:

  • Experience in having worked in a busy legal accounts department
  • Experience of working in and embracing a team-based environment
  • Thorough knowledge of the Solicitors Accounts Rules and how these work in practice, client and office account transactions, nominal accounts and journals to Balance Sheet/P&L level
  • A good working knowledge of SOS Practice Manager and Connect, or of equivalent systems and their application, plus experience with Microsoft Excel and other office IT products and systems
  • A desire to take responsibility and develop individual skills
