This is because our highly experienced partners – many from large City firm backgrounds – are truly hands-on, and our approachable and friendly teams are thoroughly prepared for each client’s business. Together, their sharp focus on the commercial real estate market means that no other distractions exist, no conflicts arise and pragmatic advice to clients is centred and based on experience, sound research and sector expertise.
We are now accepting applications for Training Contracts commencing in 2023 . Maples Teesdale is committed to providing high quality training for our trainees. Each recruit is carefully selected and our aim is to retain as many trainees at the end of their training contracts as possible.
Training at Maples Teesdale
Our trainees are the future of our business. You will receive the best training possible in a friendly and supportive environment. At the same time, we will ensure that your training contract is stimulating and rewarding.
As a specialist real estate practice, our largest department is our Commercial Property department. This is supported by five other departments: Construction, Corporate; Finance, Litigation and Planning. Our trainees have the opportunity to gain experience, skills and knowledge across these different departments in four, six-month seats.
Our reputation as high quality, approachable and commercial lawyers attracts a calibre of client more readily associated with a large city firm. If you are successful in gaining a training contract, you will be involved in a variety of transactions with a high degree of responsibility.
During each seat rotation, trainees sit with a Partner who acts as their supervisor allocating work to them and ensuring that they are also getting regular opportunities to work with a variety of fee-earners. They also play an active role in advising and developing their trainee throughout their training contract.
We want you to feel part of our team from the outset. The training is very ‘hands on’ and we aim to give you as much responsibility as you are confident to handle. You will be actively encouraged to become a valuable member of the team, drafting documents, doing research and attending client meetings.
How and when to apply
All applications for training contracts should be made online via the interactive application form. We do not accept speculative CVs. Candidates will then be shortlisted for interview.
In your interview, two partners will ask you questions about your academic record, work experiences, interests and hobbies, and will discuss a brief property – focused case study with you.
2023 Training Contracts – Applications should be submitted by no later than 19th August 2022.
What we look for
We look for two or three trainees every year, which is a small number but guarantees the high level of responsibility that you will enjoy during your training contract.
We welcome applications from both law and non-law students. Amongst other things, we look for candidates with a strong academic background (minimum ABB at A Level (excluding General Studies) and a 2.1 at degree level). When reviewing your application we also consider work experience (both legal and non-legal), sporting achievements and any positions of responsibility held. We also like to find out a little bit about you and your personality and what has inspired you into a career in the law.
We do not use any automatic filtering systems and all applications are individually reviewed by a member of the graduate recruitment panel.
You will need to apply via our online application form. Please note – this form requires Adobe Reader 8 or above.
