Maples Teesdale advises US Embassy on relocation

Maples Teesdale has been advising the US Government on its relocation to the 4.9 acre site at Nine Elms in Wandsworth in South London, completion of which was on 16 January 2018. We advised on the sale of its Embassy at Grosvenor Square to Qatari Diar as well as its move to Nine Elms, Wandsworth. The new Embassy includes a chancery, a consular section, support spaces, a U.S. Marine residence, access pavilions and parking, and is a key part of the massive redevelopment of this area of south London. We also advised the Embassy in relation to a number of residential block acquisitions in the vicinity of the new Embassy.

It was rumoured that Donald Trump would officially open the new US embassy in London but Secretary of State Rex Tillerson visited the new $1 billion US Embassy in London on Monday 22 January.
