Maples Teesdale were nominated
in this year's LawWorks Pro Bono Awards
LawWorks state that the contribution made by this firm was greatly appreciated by the community group that submitted the nomination. In addition, the community group commended the assistance received from Laura Cotton. Listed below are some comments received from the community group:
"Through LawWorks we were put in contact with Laura Cotton at Maples Teesdale and she examined the lease on our behalf. Her strong advice was that the lease positively obliged MBA to use the building for community purposes, and the rent for the building should therefore be lower than for commercial premises. This enabled us to negotiate a settlement whereby rent will increase by RPI rather than the 120% that was originally sought. This formula gives MBA an affordable level of rent, and it would not have been achieved without Ms Cotton and Maples Teesdale."
